Anna Marie Harris

ANNA MARIE HARRIS left this world peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Trinity West Hospital, after bravely facing a long battle with cancer. Born on February 6, 1975, in Weirton, to Robert Harris and Karen Jones Howell, Anna’s life was marked by her strength, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. A graduate of Weir High School, class of 1993, Anna embraced life with both hands, working as a traffic controller for Wright Traffic Control. Known for her down-to-earth charm, Anna was never one to be called a “girly-girl,” but her close friend Brad fondly remarked that she always took the time to look pretty. Anna enjoyed cooking and creating her family’s favorite dishes, including comforting chicken noodles, hearty rigatoni, and meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Her home was a gathering place filled with love, laughter, and the company of her beloved dogs, Trooper and Tucker, who brought her joy through the years. A believer in God, Anna found solace in her faith, and she cherished her close-knit circle of friends who stood by her through thick and thin. In her quiet moments, one could find Anna listening to her favorite tunes, often reminiscing about the beloved rock and country music from the 80s and 90s while dreaming of the shores of the Outer Banks. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her uncles, Eddie and Allen Jones. Anna is survived by her cherished son, Lucas Waugh, who was the light of her life, Anna’s kind and helpful stepfather, Richard “Ray” Howell, Brad Waugh, who is Lucas’ father and a very good friend of Anna, brothers Mark (Nikki) Harris, Pat (Kim) Harris, and Bobby (Theresa) Harris, aunts Debbie Moore and Patty Vaughan, Uncles Ronnie (Donna Gialluco) Jones and Mike (Corrina Davison) Jones, and many heartbroken nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, where funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11 am. Burial will follow immediately in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Rev. Danny Keenan will officiate. Share online condolences at www.grecohertnick.com. Anna Marie will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
