Sara Ann Bioux

SARA ANN BIOUX, 93, of Follansbee, WV, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at WVU Weirton Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1932, in Follansbee, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Bruzzese) Prest. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Gerald W. Bioux along with one brother Joseph Prest and her sister Rosemary Griffin. Sara was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and later attended Hooverson Heights and Follansbee Church of Christ. She graduated from Follansbee High School and went on to work for RCA TV as a clerk and then later became manager of Gerald W. Bioux Construction Company that she ran with her husband Gerald for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed nights out bowling, square dancing, playing cards in various card clubs, and most of all she loved spending time with her family. Sara is survived by four children: Susan and David Simonetti of Hilton Head, SC, Sandy and Dr. John Burdette of Southport, NC, Jerry and Dr. Lori Bioux of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Tom and Jackie Bioux of Follansbee WV; eight grandchildren: David and Andrea Simonetti, Matt and Jess Simonetti, Erin Burdette and Greg Holstein, Emily Burdette and Jordan Hughes, Holly and Ryan Powell, Laura and Casey Dillon, Kristen and Steven Nutt, and Courtney Bioux; 16 great grandchildren: Elsa, James, Lena, Nella, Lily, Joey, Anya, Owen, Eliza, Samuel, Sean, Liam, Rory, Sölden, Judah, and Asher; and several nieces and nephews. A private Funeral Liturgy of the Word will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with Father Gerald Muoka officiating, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment will follow in St. John Haven of Rest Cemetery, Colliers. Sara’s family would like to thank the staff of Woodland Hills for all of the exceptional care she received during her time with them and her most recent care she received from Weirton Medical Center Fifth floor staff especially Lindsey, Krissy, Caitlyn, and Erica along with the rest of the staff before she made her journey to heaven.
