Bethany College is launching a new Applied Sport Management Certificate (ASM) for August 2026, further developing its graduate offerings through Bethany Online to meet the growing demand for flexible, career-focused education in athletics and sport administration.
Designed for working professionals, the 12-credit certificate provides a fast, practical pathway for individuals seeking to advance in athletic administration, sport business, and related fields. The 100% online program is especially well-suited for mid-career professionals, including high school athletic directors and sport industry leaders pursuing continuing education or career advancement.
The certificate consists of four graduate-level courses:
Sport Management Processes
Sport Finance: Budgeting and Planning
Sport Marketing
Legal and Ethical Issues in Sport Management
All courses are delivered in a flexible mini-term format, allowing students to complete the certificate within a year efficiently while balancing professional responsibilities.
“This program reflects Bethany’s focus on meeting students where they are and equipping them with skills that translate immediately into their careers,” said Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “We are proud to offer an accessible, high-impact credential that supports the evolving needs of the sport industry.”
The ASM certificate is fully integrated with Bethany Online’s existing Master of Arts in Sport Management (MASM) program. Students who complete the certificate may seamlessly continue into the full master’s degree, applying all 12 credits toward completion.
The certificate also offers a competitive fee structure, with each 3-credit course priced at $475 per credit, totaling $5,700. Alumni of Bethany College receive a discounted rate of $425 per credit, supporting lifelong learning within the Bethany community.
“Creating opportunities for professional growth is central to our mission in graduate education,” said Becky Forney, dean of graduate and online enrollment for Bethany Online. “This certificate provides a meaningful, flexible option for individuals looking to elevate their careers without putting them on hold.”
With no additional resource requirements and courses already embedded within the master’s curriculum, the certificate builds on Bethany’s established strengths in sport management education while creating a new entry point for students exploring graduate study.
Enrollment is now open for the August 2026 cohort. For more information about the ASM certificate and other graduate programs at Bethany College, visit https://online.bethanywv.edu/.
