William Stephen “Steve” Riska, II

WILLIAM STEPHEN “STEVE” RISKA, II, 70, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026. He was born August 30, 1955 in Wheeling, WV, to the late William “Bill” S. Riska and Jeanne S. Riska. Steve was a 1973 graduate of Brooke High School who then went on to work for 13 years at Weirton Steel. He received his HVAC certification from Belmont Tech and spent the rest of his working days as an HVAC technician until his retirement in 2015. Steve was a loyal member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 Union throughout his HVAC days. In his free time, he was often found working in his large garden and tending his fruit trees. He was an avid hunter, and he gladly passed that on to his children and grandchildren. He loved to fish, especially with his friends in Ontario, Canada. He loved nature and animals, guns and marksmanship, and muscle cars. He was also a handyman extraordinaire. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved cousin Dorothy J. Dotson and his brothers-in-law, Thomas R. Tarr and Robert W. Fonner. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cindy L. Riska; their three children, Rachel (Rick) G. Riska, Emily A. Riska, and Matthew (Samantha) S. Riska; and four grandchildren, Liam, Serenity, Kieran, and Brayton. He is also survived by six siblings, Karen (John) Atkinson, Dianne (James) Stock, Nancy (Keith) Winzenreid, Joyce (Don) Hill, Charles Riska, and Thomas Riska. A memorial service and interment will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Steve’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 1350 Broadway, Ste 1530, New York, NY 10018.
