PUBLIC NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE
RELATING TO SEWER RATES, FEES AND CHARGES AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF THE CITY OF FOLLANSBEE, WEST VIRGINIA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Follansbee, West Virginia, a municipal corporation, will hold a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at five forty-five o’clock (5:45) p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, in the City Council Chambers before the final vote on a proposed Ordinance which has been introduced, the principal object of which is the construction of a sewer project. There will not be an increase in current sewer rates to cover the costs for necessary capital improvements that are not in the ordinary course of business. The title of such Ordinance reads:
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS
TO THE MUNICIPAL SEWER SYSTEM OF THE
CITY OF FOLLANSBEE, WEST VIRGINIA
THE FINAL READING AND VOTE on adoption of said proposed Ordinance shall be held immediately following the Public Hearing in the Council Chambers of the City of Follansbee, Follansbee Municipal Building, 872 Main Street, Follansbee, West Virginia, 26037, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at five forty-five o’clock (5:45) p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard. The meeting will be open to the public. All customers and interested parties are invited and may appear and speak before Follansbee City Council and be heard at such time with respect to the passage of the proposed Ordinance and present comments or protests, if any.
The Project
The Sewer Board operates a wastewater treatment plant and sanitary sewer collection system and proposes to undertake the following improvements.
Contract No. 1 – Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
The Work includes improvements to the existing grit removal equipment by replacing the existing grit pump and grit classifier; removal and replacement of mixing equipment in Oxidation Ditch No. 1; removal of existing aeration/mixing equipment in the existing Aerobic Digester; repairs to the existing Digester concrete basins; relocation of existing emergency generator; installation of new emergency generator electrical; and all other associated work.
Contract No. 2 – Wastewater System Sanitary/Storm Sewer Separation

THE CITY OF FOLLANSBEE is not proposing any new and/or increased rates, fees, and/or charges in regard to the subject Sewer System Improvement Project.
