JAMES PRESTON PEARSON,73, of Weirton, WV, known to his family and friends as “Jim, or J.P.” passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Born on August 17, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, Jim was the second born son to James C. and Winifred Coble Pearson. Jim was a graduate of Weir High School’s Class of 1968 and embarked on a fulfilling career as a union electrician, serving an apprenticeship that led to over 35 years with the IBEW Local 246. On November 7, 1998, Jim married the love of his life, Shelley, and together they created a lifetime of cherished memories. Jim’s zest for life was well-known, earning him the reputation of a social butterfly and the life of the party. He treasured his friendships deeply, being a diehard member of the BPOE 1801. He was also a member of Moose Lodge 688. Jim found joy in various pursuits, such as golfing at the former Pleasant Valley Country Club, camping by the edge waters in New Cumberland, and taking to the waters on his boat. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and passionately supported his team. He also had a knack for culinary arts and frequently entertained friends with his delicious creations, always welcoming guests into his home with open arms. He enjoyed roasting pigs, with his friends creating unforgettable feasts that brought friends and family together. He also enjoyed throwing darts at the former Marl Inn Club, and watching baseball. Shelley referred to Jim as not only her husband, but the love of her life. Throughout his illness, she never left his side, providing comfort and care every step of the way. Their love was a bond that could not be broken. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Pearson. Jim will be remembered with love by his wife, Shelley Ivol Pearson, his son and best friend, James “Scotty” Pearson; his son, Matthew Oliver Pearson (Erin); his stepson, Douglas Obeldobel (Edith); his grandchildren, Owen and Elisabeth Pearson, Justyne Strohmeyer (Joe), Mason, Kris, Trevor, Alex, Alexis, Jacob, and Jada Obeldobel; his great-granddaughter, Scarlet Strohmeyer; and his beloved fur babies, Beau, Buddy and Bitzie.
