RICHARD “DICK” JAMES REITTER, 74, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital, Weirton. Dick was born on June 29, 1949 in Weirton, WV. He was the son of the late William Reitter and Edra Louise (Jones) Reitter. Dick served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving numerous decorations including, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals with 60 Dev, Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Air Force Honor Medal 1st Class, Army Commendation Medal, three overseas bars, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge and the National Defense Service Medal. Upon returning from the war, Dick worked as machine setting up lead until he retired. Many will remember Dick for his love antique cars and going to car show. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his step mother, Marty Reitter, a brother, Robert Reitter and a step brother, Ernie Rhome. Dick is survived by his wife, Barbara; five siblings: William Chris Reitter and his wife, Shirley of Follansbee, WV Judy Hunter, Gary Reitter and his fiancé, Fran, all of Weirton, WV, Robin Cattrell and her husband, Ron of Toronto, OH and Paul Reitter and his wife, Jennifer of Wellsburg, WV;, step siblings, Rita Knicely and Donna Dodd, both of Middlebourne, WV and Charles Phillips of Steubenville, OH. Family and friends were received on Saturday, October 14, 2023 until the time of Military Honors, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, with the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
