HAZEL MYRTLE (MILLER) COEN, 101, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH. Hazel was born on December 24, 1921 in Piney, WV. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Miller and Margaret (Nolan) Miller. Hazel was a member of the Church of Christ in Piney and Sunset Ave. Wellsburg. Many will remember Hazel for her love of sewing and embroidering, planting her flower and vegetable gardens. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Everett J. Coen; two children: Sharon Mitchell and her husband, Donald and Everette Fay Coen and his wife, Linda Jo; two grandchildren and siblings, Olive McHenry, Hobert, Wilson and Evertt Miller and Phyllis and Jessie Coen. Hazel is survived by her children: Erwin Ray Coen, Sr. and his wife, Sharon of Wellsburg, WV, Charlotte Minda and her husband, John of West Liberty, WV, Darrell Coen and his wife, Debbie of Wheeling, WV, Darlene “Sue” Porter and her husband, John of Bridgeport, OH and Marvin Coen and his wife, Maureen of Wellsburg; 19 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received on Monday, October 16, 2023 and again on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 until the time of the funeral service, at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Minister Larry Lemasters officiating.
