PUBLIC NOTICE
The City of Follansbee is accepting applications for a full-time planning director/grant administrator.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for community development and planning for the City of Follansbee. The individual will be responsible for assisting in creating policies and regulations regfarding development within the city. The individual works as a liasion along with the Mayor and City Manager between local outside agencies as well as state and federal officials and will attend meetings and conferences as needed. They will administer federal and state grants. The individual will also: work closely with other employees processing business licenses, Business and Occupation Tax and Building Permits; apply for, and administer, state and federal grants; review/process building permits; write/update city ordinances relating to building permits, business development and building codes; research state and federal codes.
Qualifications:
Minimum four years experience as a municipal/state planning and development coordinator; BA degree in planning, public administration, or related field from an accredited college or university; any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the task required of the position; experience in governmental and private industry point of view to enhance ability to review projects; valid certificate from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); extensive knowledge of the function, procedures, organization and regulations of city, state and federal government; general knowledge of accounting methods and familiatrity with the budget process; extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to make responsible decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; ability to maintain effective working relationship with other employees, public officials, the general public, and to deal with public relation problems and complaints courteously and tactfully; and in depth knowledge and administrtation of grant progams.
This is a paid position of $55,000.00 per year which includes 100% paid health insurance with gap coverage, eye and dental plus West Virginia State Retirement.
