Willard Edward Flowers

WILLARD EDWARD FLOWERS, 90, of Weirton, WV, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on January 16, 2024. Born on July 30, 1933, in Weirton, WV to Edward and Agnes Yurko Flowers, Willard’s life was marked by God and family. In 1956, Willard married the love of his life, Betty Bosko, and together they built a life full of joy and love. They were blessed with three daughters – Kathleen A. (Geary) Bee, Mary Elizabeth Malkovich, and Barbara Jean (Ted) Devens. Willard took great pride in his family, which extended to three grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Bee, Jessica Bee, and Rade A. Malkovich, and four great-grandchildren, Parker, Bailey, and Sadie Bee, and Savannah Malkovich. Willard dedicated a significant part of his life to a successful career at Weirton Steel, where he worked as an electrician in the Blast Furnace. An avid golfer, Willard achieved the remarkable feat of a hole in one, a testament to his skill and passion for the sport. He enjoyed many rounds of golf at the former Pleasant Valley Country Club in Weirton, creating lasting memories. Devoted to his faith, Willard was an active member of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Weirton. His involvement extended to various church activities, including serving on the Board of Trustees, the Men’s Club, the O Club, and he dedicated many years to overseeing the church cemetery. His contributions to the church community were invaluable, and he leaves behind a legacy of service. Willard was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Flowers and Agnes Yurko Flowers Revisky, his stepfather, John Revisky, his brother, Edward Flowers, and his son-in-law, Rade Malkovich. He will be remembered with love by his wife, Betty Bosko Flowers; his three daughters, Kathleen A. (Geary) Bee, Mary Elizabeth Malkovich, and Barbara Jean (Ted) Devens; his three grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Bee, Jessica Bee, and Rade A. Malkovich; and his four great-grandchildren, Parker, Bailey, and Sadie Bee, and Savannah Malkovich. Visitation was be held on Thursday, January 18, 204, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Funeral services immediately followed, with Fr. Andrew Nelko presiding. Interment followed the service at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church Cemetery, Weirton. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com.
