Thomas David “Tom” Skrab

THOMAS DAVID “TOM” SKRAB, 79, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, March 6, 2024, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glendale. He was born in Weirton on November 13, 1944, one of four children to George Skrab and Sophia Zarebska Skrab. Tom was a proud member of the United States Army. He retired from the Tin Mill at Weirton Steel after more than 30 years of service. Tom was known to everyone as “Mr. Go with the Flow,” and his even-keel temperament was appealing to all who knew him. The five most important ingredients to Tom’s life were his grandchildren, making them the absolute best popcorn, orchestrating Taco Monday, and of course, preparing for them his almost world-famous “Pappy” Pancakes! Sundays at the Skrab house were dedicated to Steeler football and all that came with it, the camaraderie of family, and of course ending the day with a myriad of Beatles songs, all of which encompassed the undying love he had for his family. Now and again, Tom was known to walk out on his porch incredibly early in the morning and stare into the heavens, and without fail, he would retreat inside to his lovely bride Linda and say, “I think I just saw a UFO!” The World May Never Know………! Tom was a man of great love for his country, his fellow man, and of course most importantly, his family. He immersed himself in all aspects of their life and did not have any regrets about his dedication, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother George Skrab. Left with heavy hearts and a tremendous amount of love and admiration are his wife of 50 years, Linda Salancy Skrab whom he married on November 2, 1973, his daughters Suzy (Mike) Mastrantoni of Weirton, Beth (Michael) Gilloon of Dayton, grandchildren Gigi and Tino Mastrantoni, and Veronica, Gabby, and Frankie Gilloon, brother Bob (Sally) Skrab, sister Dorothy Skrab, sister-in-law Janet Ross, brother-in-law Fred (Ann) Salancy, and many nieces and nephews. Friends were received on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 until the time of the Liturgy of the Word Service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, with Fr. Larry Dorsch presiding. Interment followed at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville. Tom’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the following Drs. Dr. Neil Khurana, Dr. Cherian, Dr. John, and Dr. Karpurapu, and the entire staff of Reynolds Memorial Hospital’s ICU. Share online condolences at www.grecohertnick.com.
