Ralph Edward “Red” Hunter, Jr.

RALPH EDWARD “RED” HUNTER, JR., 87, of Beech Bottom, WV died peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center with his family by his side. Born on June 14, 1936, in Wellsburg, WV, a son of the late Ralph Edward and Mary (Sayre) Hunter, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Bruce and brother-in-law, James Bruce. Red graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1955. He worked for several years at Eagle Manufacturing and retired from the former Standard LaFarge where he worked as a laborer. He was a member of the Washington Pike Church of the Nazarene, the Bethany Masonic Lodge #2 A.F. & A.M., and was very active in genealogy at the Brooke County Library. Red is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Charlotte (Rine) Hunter; three children: Cynthia “Cindy” Norden and husband, Robert of Scott Depot, WV, Susan Mozingo of Wellsburg, WV, and Bruce Hunter and wife, Vicki of Beech Bottom, WV; seven grandchildren: Mitch (Holly) Grishkevich, Joyce Grishkevich and fiancé Brandon Snodgrass, Nicholas Norden, Christopher Norden, Levi Hunter, Cassandra Hunter and fiancé Michael Huff, and Erika Hunter; and two great grandchildren, Harrison and Kinzleigh. Visitation for Red was held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, where funeral services were held on Friday, March 22, 2024 with Pastor Brian Knight officiating.
