DAVID DOMINIC DRAKOS, 69, of Weirton, unexpectedly passed away at his residence on April 21, 2024. Born on April 14, 1955, he was a beloved son of James N. and Lena Bonnizzio Drakos, Sr. David’s journey began in Weirton, where he attended and graduated from Weir High School in 1973. Driven by his passion for architectural design, he pursued further education, graduating from the Dean Institute of Technology. His thirst for knowledge led him to achieve a degree in Applied Science from WVNCC, solidifying his expertise in engineering. Throughout his career, David excelled as a project manager and engineering manager, contributing significantly to various phases of engineering projects. His dedication and commitment earned him respect and admiration within his profession. Beyond his professional pursuits, David was an unwavering supporter of Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers. His enthusiasm for the games was infectious, bringing joy to those around him. Additionally, he found solace and enjoyment in the peaceful greens of the golf course and the camaraderie of softball games. He was a devout member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, where he found strength and community in his faith. Moreover, he actively participated in All Saints AHEPA, further embodying his dedication to his beliefs and community. In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his brother James N. Drakos, Jr., Left to cherish David’s memory are his mother, Lena Bonnizzio Drakos, sons David S. (Kubra) Drakos and Nick Drakos all of Columbus, and sister Linda (Jim) Metcalfe of Morgantown, WV. In honoring David’s memory, let us cherish the moments shared, the lessons learned, and the love bestowed. May his spirit continue to inspire us to live with purpose and compassion. Friends were invited to visit with David’s family at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 until the time of the Liturgy of the Word Service, with Fr. Binu Sebastian presiding. David’s request for cremation has been honored. He was cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory.
