Juanita Catherine Anderson

JUANITA CATHERINE ANDERSON, 96, of Wellsville, OH, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Trinity Medical Center, in Steubenville, OH. Born on November 13, 1927, in Flemington, WV, she was one of six children born to Albert and Liza Swick Moore. Juanita’s life was marked by her enduring spirit and love for her family. She married Wilmer Adams, and together they had eight children. Although their marriage ended in divorce, Juanita’s strength and dedication to her family never wavered. She worked as a cook at Elby’s Restaurant in Weirton and the Fort Steuben Mall in Steubenville for 25 years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and customers. In 1976, Juanita found love again and married Donald Anderson, who preceded her in death on June 25, 2005. Known for her infectious laughter and joyful spirit, Juanita was a beloved member of her community. She had a passion for fishing, particularly in the backwaters and in Florida, where her son Ronald resides. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found spiritual nourishment at the Voice of Pentecost in Weirton. She was also a former member of the Freedom Place II Tenant’s Club. In addition to her parents and her husband Donald, Juanita was preceded in death by her first husband Wilmer Adams; her infant children, Roger Adams and Wilma Jean Adams; her three sons, Robert Lee, Ray Evert, and Raymond W. (Deena) Adams; her brother, Lancey Moore; and her sisters, Mary Whitehair, Ruth Morrison, and Gladys Myers. Juanita’s legacy of love, laughter, and faith will be cherished by all who knew her, including her son, Ronald M. Adams and his wife Cathy of Lehigh Acres, FL; her daughters, Patricia Smallwood, with whom she resided the last few years; and Wanda Mae Adams; her ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A visitation was held at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Funeral services were held at the funeral home, with Rev. Larry Barkley presiding.
