JOSEPHINE ALESA SCOTT went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 8, 2024, joining her beloved husband, Donald Lee Scott. She was born in Power, West Virginia on May 19, 1934, to Lester Merl and Laura Rose (Noller) Beagle, Josie spent her life in dedication to her family, faith, and community. Josie married her soul mate, Don on July 14, 1952, at Sampson Air Force Base in New York, before his deployment during the Korean War. She was a Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church member for over fifty years and loved singing as part of the choir, serving as a Sunday School teacher, and taking part in the Pairs and Spares class. For over twenty years, Josie was a welcoming face at the Weirton Wal-Mart as a greeter, cashier, and associate. She loved seeing the faces of her community, greeting them with a smile. She even took part in the store’s holiday celebrations as the Easter Bunny for numerous years. Josie used her artistic talents to create drawings of her children and to compose poems. Much of her writing was published through her church and in the local newspaper. In 1986, she shared her writing in the Weirton Daily Times in remembrance of the souls lost in the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster called, “To Win, You Must Try.” In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald Lee Scott who sadly passed away on November 7, 2000, and her sister, Mabel Rose (Beagle) Carey in 2021. Josie is survived by her five children, Rose-Ann (Tom) Grossi of Weirton, Donald Lance (Terry) Scott of Weirton, Lauralee Irene (William) Webster of Irwin, PA., Paul Clayton Scott of Weirton, and Alesa Marie (John) Martin of Charleston, WV., as well as nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister Shirley Mushet of Wellsburg, and many nieces and nephews. Friends were invited to visit Josie’s family on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, where her funeral service was also celebrated on Friday.
