Pull Up A Chair

By: Hettie Basil Lighttower

So today is July 15, 2024 that I am writing this. Just two days after the assassination attempt of a U.S. presidential candidate named Donald Trump. Just now an emotion runs through your heart. Very few people have neutral feelings about Donald Trump. Either you love to hate him or you love to love him. He strikes cords in all us. Seems he has had a few snags in his campaign run from mugshot to gunshot. Without being political I would like to address a deeper viewpoint about this recent tragic attempt to take a man’s life. The viewpoint is more of a spiritual perspective as opposed to a democrat versus republican perspective.
Let me explain that there are more things for us to be concerned about then being democrat or republican. We are human beings with souls and each of us are responsible for our own actions and even thoughts. Thoughts lead to actions. We choose everyday to do the right thing or the wrong thing. I suppose the gunman felt like he was doing the right thing. And on an energetic level perhaps he was. I mean even if the centurians hadn’t nailed Christ to the cross, how was Christ to die on the cross…… for our sins. It was God’s plan yes? Someone had to be the bad guy to carry the tragic action in order to create the bigger picture for our higher good. We see it as a bad thing in real time that someone shoots someone. But what if it is part of a bigger plan?
Our days are full of choices be them big or small. We even have the choice to fear or love in experiences throughout day. Hate is a spectrum of fear. Emotions are components of our human experience. They can run very passionate one way or the other when they are from a raw ego base line. What if this incident took place for us to witness so we can evaluate our level of self-control? Or for us to evaluate our level of faith? It is pretty amazing that a simple tilt of the head in just the precise second changed all of history! That was not an accident but divine intervention and I believe a divine plan of destiny that will unfold. What is in store for us now? What if it was bound to happen in order for us to learn compassion whether our opinion is on the love or hate side of Trump? What if this happened so that we can hold a mirror up to our own souls, and see where we might have a dark blot of hate?
The point is Trump by all accounts should have been shot and killed in that millisecond. However, for some reason, I think for lots of reasons, he was not. Only God has the answers. And whether we are for or against this man and all his jagged edges and at times juvenile ways, we have to admit how strong and stern he was in that moment after being shot. This is a message that shines through…..strength and protected and secure. It is a surreal event that is historic. The very chance of his survival was so slim it has to be seen as an example to us that no matter what the odds are in whatever situations we find ourselves in, there are guardian angels working on our behalf. We most likely do not acknowledge them or know that we need them in our daily lives. Yet, they are there. Yet they carry out protection for a higher good.
Think on this….. there is a spiritual element to all of us that is unseen. What can you do to improve this world with your own gifts and talents to make it a better place in your immediate community? Hate is a choice out of fear. This is a great opportunity to search our own souls for how we can do better. If all of us do this then the world around us will start to reflect the light we are putting out. We cannot survive with so much hate and division as to want to kill someone out of such hate and division. It is sad to me that there are political sides. The earth is ROUND. It has no sides. We are all people and should never get so caught up in one political side or another to the degree of wanting to take another person’s life.
When I watched this event on the news. I had a strong sensation that this was an event that would change so many things. I saw it as an opportunity to STOP. Question, what are we doing?? What is my role in this? What is the value of shooting another person or reveling in the fact that it was done to someone I/you can’t stand? What if I or you are hating on the shooter for what he did? What does either stance say about me/you? Where are you on a spiritual level with this? It’s a great opportunity to turn this world around and proceed with love through self reflection and forgiveness. Forgiveness to any part of this entire scenario that is upsetting to us.
I suppose there is a vast chance if a bullet pierced my ear and I was given a new chance on life, a new day to live, that I would have a brand new perspective of how to behave, of how to react, of how to conduct myself from here on out. I would be CHANGED and humbled and never take life and love for granted again. Time will reveal all the reasons this happened. Let’s watch and see what good things God has in store through this tragic event.
