Donald “Don” L. Williams

DONALD “DON” L. WILLIAMS, 74, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Arden Courts of North Hills in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on June 13, 1950, in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of the late Robert Richard Williams and Mary Louise Lawrence Williams. A graduate of Weir High School, Class of 1968, Don furthered his education at West Liberty State College, ultimately earning his Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Dayton. He devoted over 30 years of his career to teaching Special Education throughout the Ohio Valley before landing at Edison Local Schools. Don had a passion for researching genealogy, and he enjoyed hobbies such as completing crossword puzzles, fishing, and working on his cars. He took meticulous care of his lawn year-round and took great pride in his home. A talented musician, Don had the ability to hear a song and play it on piano. He was also a proud social member of the VFW Post No. 2716 in Weirton. Don is survived by his children, Jason Matthew Williams (Nicole), Heather Dawn Halfhill (John), and Chad Andrew Williams (Bethany); grandchildren, Brennan, Colin, Leighton, Camden, and Emerson; siblings, James Richard Williams (Enid), Mary Elaine Williams, Dr. Robert Franklin Williams (Karen), Patricia Aileen Ferrell, and Sharyn Elizabeth Jones (Brian); along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Friday, December 27, 2024, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton. The funeral service took place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, with interment following at Harlem Springs Cemetery in Harlem Springs, Ohio. Don received exceptional care during his time at Arden Courts, where the staff treated him with the utmost compassion and respect.
