ROSETTA MAE “COOKIE” VUCICH, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on February 14, 2025. Born on October 7, 1932, on Avenue H in Weirton, she was the daughter of Siro and Johanna Principini Ciotti. A graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central, Rosetta pursued her passion for caregiving by enrolling in Nurse’s Training at Wheeling College. She dedicated her early career as an operating room nurse at Weirton General Hospital before devoting herself to raising her family. On November 16, 1955, Rosetta married Michael Vucich, a chemical research engineer for National Steel. Together, they built a loving home where Rosetta found great joy in baking, cooking, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. For rest and relaxation, they enjoyed vacationing in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. They were blessed with four children, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A devoted member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Rosetta lived her faith through service, volunteering her time in the kitchen for the annual Lenten dinners, church picnics, and funeral repast dinners. In addition to her parents and husband, Rosetta was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry and Eugene Ciotti. She will be remembered with love by her sons, Michael (Emily) Vucich, Robert (Sheryl) Vucich, Richard (Faye) Vucich, her daughter, Rosanne (Joe) Fernandez; her many grandchildren: Michael, Mikala, Christopher (Jessica), Matthew, David, John (Kileen), Zachary, Hannah Fernandez, Rachel (Dakota) Dustin, Danielle (Gavin) Shank, Andrea Vucich, and Jessica (Jordan) Ogaz; and her great grandchildren, Lucia, Cecelia, and Lucas Dustin, Jameson, Jeremiah and Josiah Ogaz. Visitation was held Friday, February 21, 2025, at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 22, 205, at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment followed at Saint Paul’s Cemetery.
