Isabell Metzger, a resident of Wellsburg since 1950, celebrated her 102nd birthday at Weirton Geriatric Center on July 6, along with her family.
Metzger was married to the late Willian (Bill) Metzger for 67 years. She has three daughters: Carol (Bill) Lynn of Wellsburg, Mary Jane (Jim) McElroy of Follansbee and Barbara Lauck of Center Township, PA.
She also has two granddaughters, Lara (McElroy) Woodrum of St. Albans, WV and Jenifer (Lauck) Rodgers of Williamsport, PA; and two grandsons, Scott McElroy of Weirton, WV and Brian Lauck of St. Albans.
She has four great-grandchildren: Gillian Woodrum, Connor Rodgers, Ethan Rodgers and Maesie Rodgers.
Metzger retired as a secretary from the Wellsburg Eagle Manufacturing Company after 19 years.
She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsburg, where she sang in the adult choir and played the bells in the bell choir. She belonged to the Hetty Elizabeth Beatty Questers of Steubenville, Ohio. She also enjoyed playing the piano, reading, cooking, and being with family.
