ROBERT VINCENT CARROLL, 81, of Follansbee, West Virginia died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born on February 5, 1944, in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Clarence V. and Hazel Marie (Mercer) Carroll. In addition to his parents Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Lee (Carbasho) Carroll on February 11, 2025; an infant son, Michael Douglas Carroll; one brother, Randy Lee Carroll; and his daughter in law, Linda Jo Carroll. Robert graduated from Wellsburg High School Class of 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserve. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He worked and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he was a fire inspector. Robert joined the Hooverson Heights Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1963. Over the years volunteering, he worked his way up the “ladder” to Fire Chief for approximately 18 years before handing the well-respected title down to his son Rob. Robert is survived by three children: Rob Carroll and fiancé Gwen Morris of Follansbee, WV, Jeff Carroll, Sr. and companion Debbie Hawthorne of Weirton, WV, and Elizabeth Ann (Paul) Patterson of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren: Aspen Carroll and companion Kylee Taylor, Maddie Carroll and companion, Matt Faught, Jeff Carroll, Jr, and companion Mary Perone, Zach Carroll and companion Dillon Cervi, Kacie Patterson and companion Matt Jarvi, and P.J. Patterson; six great grandchildren: Thomas, Maren, Barrett, Lennox, Ella, and Lainey Jo; one Brother, Keith (Lisa) Carroll of Follansbee; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 until the time of Funeral Liturgy of the Word, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, with the Rev. Father Gerald Muoka officiating.
