JOSEPH MICHAEL KURCINA, 73 of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born August 19, 1952, in Steubenville, OH a son of the late Michael Joseph and Angeline (Berarducci) Kurcina. He graduated from Brooke High School in 1971. Joe retired from the city of Follansbee where he worked in the Street Department. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Follansbee, WV. He was also a member of the Cedar Lodge. If you knew Joe he loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Notre Dame, and loved riding his bicycle to the Follansbee Swimming pool and loved to play basketball at the city park. Joe is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Kenneth) Fletcher of Wellsburg, WV; brother, David (Lesley) Kurcina of Follansbee, WV; three nephews, Christopher and Sam Fletcher, both of Wellsburg and Michael Kurcina of Follansbee; one niece, Lindsay Kurcina of Weirton, WV; and many cousins, friends and his furry friend Marlee. Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. A vigil service was also held on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Catholic Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, with the Rev. Father Gerald Muoka as celebrant. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee. The family would like to give special thanks to UPMC Presbyerian and UPMC Shadyside and Dr. Saieed Saieed for the great care Joe received during his illness.
