GFWC Holds Annual Fall Convention

GFWCWV Northern District 112th Annual Fall Convention was held October 18, at Bethany Memorial Church, with Michelle Beihl, President, Civic League of Warwood presiding. GFWCWV Bethany Woman’s Club hosted the convention with Helen Moren, convention chairman. Others present included Charlotte Chambers and Judy Pyle. Beihl welcomed members to Bethany and Mayor Thom Furbee gave greetings from the town of Bethany.
Inspiration, Pledge of Allegiance, and club collect was led by Jeannie Amidon, Weirton Woman’s Club, First Vice President. Ms. Moren gave the preliminary credential report and Rules of Convention.
The financial report was given by Lexie Hanket, treasurer, Tuesday Arts of Moundsville. Presentation of the slate of officers for the 2026-28 year was presented by Ms. Moren.
Keynote speaker for the convention was Natalie Hinkle, Buchannon, GFWCWV State President.
Helen Gibson Weirton Woman’s Club conducted a memorial service for deceased members.
Since this was the 125th anniversary, clubs gave a short report on the historical events of their club. Helen Moren, GFWCWV State Chairman, gave a report on domestic violence and sexual assault.
Members brought their arts and crafts to the convention for judging. First place winners are entered in competition at the GFWCWV State convention in March. Sandy Smith, Tuesday Arts of Moundsville, is GFWCWV Arts and Crafts Chairman.
The following officers were installed by President Hinkle: First Vice President – Helen Moren, GFWCWV Bethany Woman’s Club; Second Vice President – Jamesie Beecroft, The Woman’s Club of Wheeling; Secretary – Jeanne Crinkey, Civic League of Warwood; and Treasurer – Jeanne Wolfe, Woman’s Club of McMechen.
Ms. Amidon will be installed as District at the March Convention.
Jeanne Wolfe extended an invitation to the 2026 in McMEchen.
