The Wellsburg Urban Renewal Authority (URA) unveiled a new “Almost Heaven” swing on Monday. The swing is a beautiful wooden swing that overlooks the Ohio River in Wellsburg. The URA led the application and coordinated the installation, with much support from the City of Wellsburg, Brooke County, the Chamber of Commerce, and Top of WV CVB.
In addition to the swing, the URA is responsible for the downtown revitalization project by Town Square – managing all funding (including a $750,000 federal grant) and overseeing construction.
The URA is a volunteer city committee dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Wellsburg. Alex Weld serves as chair alongside committee members Geno Capp, Matz Malone, Tom Zurbuch, Mary Kay Pepe, and Mary Margaret Rosso.
