Genevieve “Gen” Josephine Rumora

GENEVIEVE (GEN) JOSEPHINE RUMORA, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2025, at Serra Manor in Weirton, WV. She was born on January 3, 1930, in Weirton to Frank and Victoria Bialkowski Waszak. Gen was a proud lifelong resident of Weirton and cherished her roots in the community. Gen graduated from Weir High School in 1948 and dedicated her career to the service industry, working at GC Murphy and C&P Telephone before concluding her professional journey at Weirton General Hospital and Weirton Medical Center in the Business Office. In her personal life, Gen was a woman of strong faith and found joy in crafting, spending countless hours knitting and crocheting beautiful pieces, many of which she generously gifted to friends, family, and those in need. Her kindness extended beyond her creations, as she always kept candy on hand to share with children she encountered, spreading sweetness wherever she went. Gen was the loving wife of Michael “Mitch” “Eggs” Rumora, whom she married on October 20, 1956. They shared a deep bond until his passing on February 3, 2017. Together, they were often seen enjoying coffee at their favorite McDonald’s, a testament to their enduring companionship. In addition to her parents and husband Eggs, she was preceded in death by her siblings Paul, Mary, and Julia. She is survived by her son, Craig Rumora of Katy, TX, and daughter, Lynn Agans of Erie, Colorado, grandchildren Christian, Brenna, Rebekkah, and Jordan, and seven great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way. Gen’s request for cremation has been honored. She was cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, Weirton. Services for Gen were conducted at the convenience of her family. At her request, there were no public services held for Gen. She was interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with her husband, “Eggs.” As we remember, Gen let us honor her memory through acts of kindness, whether through crafting, sharing a sweet treat, or simply offering a helping hand to those around us—just as she would have done. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Share online condolences at www.grecohertnick.com.
