ARTHUR JAMES “JIM” RODGERS, 83, of Follansbee, WV and Sunrise, FL, passed away suddenly on February 26, 2026. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose steady presence, quiet strength, and deep faith touched everyone who knew him. He is survived by his daughters Valarie Stevens and Janeen Lloyd; his sons-in-law, Ray Stevens and Bryan Lloyd; his cherished grandchildren, Isabella Lloyd, Nathan Lloyd, Declan Stevens, and Haegan Stevens; and his brother, Michael Edward Rodgers and wife Kathi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Jessie Rodgers, and brother Patrick. Jim dedicated his career to education and the lives of young people, serving as a driver’s education instructor, guidance counselor, and cross country and track coach. He believed deeply in teaching responsibility, discipline, and confidence—values rooted in both his faith and his commitment to helping others grow. Outside of work, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, reading, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Whether sharing a story, offering quiet encouragement, or simply being present, Jim reflected God’s love through his actions and unwavering support for those around him. Jim will be remembered for his strong faith, kindness, patience, and unwavering love for his family. His life was a testament to his devotion to God and to those he loved, and his legacy will live on in the lives he shaped, the students he guided, and the family who will carry his memory forward always. Final arrangements will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Jim’s name to St. Judes.
