Joseph Leonard Vagnozzi

JOSEPH LEONARD VAGNOZZI, 77, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Weirton Geriatric Center. He was born on April 24, 1948, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Frank and Catherine “Katy” (Consalvo) Vagnozzi. In addition to his parents Joe is preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Vagnozzi and one sister Esther Dotts. Joe graduated from Follansbee High School in 1966. He was a proud son of Marshall University and graduated in 1974. Joe retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation where he worked in refrigeration. He also worked for Brooke and Hancock County Schools as a substitute teacher. Joe also taught P.E. at St. Anthony School for several years. He was also known to many as a bartender at the Quarterback and Sports Court in Weirton, WV. Joe was proud of his Italian heritage and was known for his feast of the Seven Fishes dinners on Christmas Eve. He never knew a stranger. Joe was a kind and generous man. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dreama (Yurkosky) Vagnozzi of Follansbee, WV; his beloved son, Anthony; his dog Ziggy; one sister, Luanne (Rick) Carroll of Wintersville, OH; his sister-in-law, Delores (Todd) Cline of Richmond, OH; Michael Casini, who was like a son; Vickey (Sciarretti) Ross and husband Albert, who was like a sister; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 until the time of Funeral Liturgy of the Word with the Rev. Father Gerald Muoka officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. In his honor, please do something kind for a stranger, cook your favorite meal, root on your favorite sports team “Go Herd!”, love your family and live life to the fullest.
