NEIL HERMAN NIXON, 93, passed away peacfully at Golden oaks in Follansbee, WV on May 14, 2026. He was born December 23, 1932, to the late Lenora Nixon (Treiber) and William E. Nixon of Wellsburg, WV. He served in the Army during the Korean War in France. He taught music and art, was a guidance counselor, and a school administrator. After retiring from education, he worked for Brooke County Probation Office, Victims Assistance Program was a longtime lay minister for the Community of Christ, was involved with Brooke Hills Playhouse musicals and plays, and also was a Johnny Apple Seed character that visited schools, fairs and spreading seeds and gospel. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Carol Jean (Dickson) Nixon, and his brother Charles Nixon. He leaves behind three children: Teri Foster (Doug), Steve Nixon (Jill), and David Nixon (Melanie); five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two nephews. A private family memorial service will take place in the future.
