NICK BUTTO, 75, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, at WVU Weirton Medical Center. Born on December 15, 1950, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Patsy and Eva Alvaro Butto. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Nikki Jean Gurrera Butto, in 2016, and his brother, Anthony Butto. A proud United States Navy veteran, Nick served his country while stationed in Cuba. Following his military service, he returned home to build a life centered around family, faith, and community. He and Nikki made their home in Weirton, where they lovingly raised their family together. Nick dedicated many years of service to Weirton Steel Corporation as a Union Trainer Coordinator. Nick was a Christian by faith and an active member of American Legion Post No. 10 and VFW Post No. 2716. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life — hunting, fishing, cooking, and baking, especially sharing his famous chocolate chip cookies with family and friends. He also loved playing cards, coaching youth basketball and baseball, and hosting memorable Christmas celebrations that brought everyone together. A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia University football, Nick’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his family, particularly cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and activities. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughter, Darcy Zorbini of Weirton; his son, Michael Butto and wife Mary of Colliers; grandchildren Eva Anderson and husband Chuck, Laurena Wanat and husband Wayne, Anthony Zorbini, and Madeline Zorbini; great-grandchildren Luke Anderson and Leila Wanat; brothers Albert Bruno Butto and wife Patricia, and Patsy Butto Jr. and wife Roxanne; along with his sister-in-law, Linda Butto. Family and friends were received on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Nadia Stropich officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, where Nick will be laid to rest beside his beloved Nikki, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 10 Honor Guard.
