DENNY JAMES OHLER, 70, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026, at his residence under the care of his wife, daughter and granddaughter with the assistance of Valley Hospice. Denny was born on March 16, 1956, in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of James Albert Ohler and the late Jo-Ann (Sandreth) Ohler. An internationally recognized artist and talented musician, Denny was known for his contributions to rock, power pop, and modern rock music. A gifted guitarist and bass guitarist, he devoted much of his life to writing, recording, and performing original music. Among his many bands were Mingo, Wild Ride, Kicker, 5th Ave, State of Mind, Attaboy Luther, Short of Breath (SOB), Blue Dawn, Xzadar and Dark Star, among others. Beyond his music, Denny was an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church. He enjoyed video gaming, working with computers, and was known for his ability to repair and restore guitars, often helping fellow musicians keep their instruments in tune and performing at their best. Denny will be remembered for his creativity, musical talent, unique spirit, and the lasting impact he made on family, friends, and fans throughout the world. His music and artistic legacy will continue to live on through the recordings he created and the many lives he touched throughout his career. Through his songs, his friendships, and his passion for music, Denny leaves behind a lasting mark that will not be forgotten. In addition to his mother, Denny was preceded in death by his beloved cat, Sophie. In addition to his father, Denny is survived by his wife, Kim (Brubach) Ohler, whom he shared 32 years of marriage with; his daughter, Melissa Christian; a granddaughter, Cassidy Christian; a brother, Ricky Ohler and his wife, Lori; two nieces, Lindsey and Kelsey; three nephews, Michael, Jason and John; and many friends and colleagues throughout the music industry. Family and friends were received on Monday, June 22, 2026 until the time of the funeral service at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Funeral Celebrant Eric L. Fithyan officiating.
