Lavona Kay Wheeler

LAVONA KAY WHEELER, 71, of Weirton, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 26, 1954, the daughter of the late Emery and Norma Fay Davis Cofer. LaVona was a Christian by faith and devoted much of her life to caring for others. Throughout her lifetime, she worked at several fast-food restaurants and nursing homes. A true lover of nature, LaVona found joy in gardening, landscaping, and tending to her flowers. She had a true green thumb and took great pride in watching things grow. She also loved cooking for her family and sharing meals with those she loved. LaVona was a down-to-earth soul who enjoyed being near the water and spending time in nature. Above all else, her greatest love was her family. LaVona is survived by her husband of 46 years, Curtis Wheeler; daughters, Misty Cofer and her fiancé, Dimon Cain, and Krystal Mitchell; sons, Jason Garland and Dusty Cofer and Dire; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and her beloved dogs, Frank, Munchkin, and Texan. There was no visitation. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Weirton.
