Change Inc. was one of 22 projects to receive a total of $2,118,686 in West Virginia Child Advocacy Center (CAC) Grant program announced last week.
Those funds were given to local non-profit CAC’s throughout the state to address the growing problem of child abuse and neglect.
The awards are focused on a multi-disciplinary response to the investigation, treatment and prosecution of child abuse cases by providing such services as advocacy, education, forensic interviews, evaluations, and referrals.
Locally, the $89,664 grant will be used to provide and coordinate child-centered, site-based services to victims of child abuse and their families in Brooke and Hancock counties.
Change Inc. is a community action agency that serves Brooke, Hancock, Ohio and Marshall counties as well as Jefferson County, OH, by providing various programs and services to those in need.
It builds partnerships, consolidates resources and integrates services to empower families to overcome the causes of poverty and live healthy lives.
The state of West Virginia provided the funds and are administered by the Justice and Community Services Section of the Division of Administrative Services.
