Brooke Hills Playhouse announces auditions for the first three shows which will be held at the Brooke Hills Park Clubhouse on Saturday, April 1. Municipal Mutual Insurance Company and Reasner Funeral Home are sponsors for the 52nd season.
Auditions for “Things My Mother Taught Me,” written by Katherine DiSavino, will begin at 10 a.m. The plot revolves a young couple moving into a new apartment after traveling halfway across the country to Chicago. Their moving day doesn’t go exactly as planned, and complications arise when both sets of parents arrive to help. Can a two-bedroom apartment contain all the love, laughs, worry, and wisdom that’s about to happen?
The cast includes a young couple in their late 20s, two sets of parents aged 50-60, and a building super, 50’s, either gender. Performance dates are May 26-28 and June 2-4.
At 11:30 a.m. ”Pinocchio” auditions begin. This is the children’s play written by John Morley. Children should be at least five years old to audition, and there are a minimum of 14 characters to be cast. Performance dates are June 16-18 and 23-25.
Auditions for the musical “Nunsense,” with book, music, and lyrics by Dan Goggin will begin at 3 p.m. The plot centers around a show being organized as a fundraiser to raise money to bury sisters poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia (Child of God). This show is updated with new jokes, additional lyrics, and a brand-new song. The cast requires five actresses. Those auditioning should be prepared with a song of their choice. Performance dates are July 7-9 and 14-16.
Auditions for all shows will include cold readings from the script.
