Bruins Move Out to 2-0 Season Record

The Brooke Bruins moved out to a 2-0 start of the 2023 football season by beating Indian Creek, OH, 28-7 Thursday night.
The win followed a 48-0 shellacking of the visiting Ripley Vikings in the season opener.
The Redskins (1-2) scored first in a 4-yard run for a 7-0 lead in the first period.
The Bruins responded twice in the second quarter as Braelyn Sperringer capped a long march with a 1-yard sneak into the endzone to tie the game at 7-all early in the second quarter.
He later fired a screen pass to Gavin Moore, who broke free down the sideline for 25 yards to paydirt to give Brooke a 14-7 lead.
Indian Creek threatened before just before halftime but turned the ball over on downs with 13 second left on the clock.
After a scoreless third quarter, Brooke added a pair of scores to ensure the win.
The Bruins took advantage of a short field, and moved out to a 21-78 advantage on a 19-yard run by Moore for their third TD.
After Tristen Stevens interception a wayward Indian Creek pass, Sperringer connected with Jace Campinelli on a 29-yard catch-and-run for the final tally of 28-7.
Sperringer was 15 of 22 for 177 yards and two passing touchdowns and 22 yards on the ground.
Moore had 35 yards on the ground and 65 yards on five receptions, with one touchdown rushing and another via the air.
Gus Gilbert caught five passes for 65 yards.
The Bruins will return home Friday to host University, which is now 1-1 with a 42-7 win over John Marshall and a 72-34 loss to Parkersburg South last Friday. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
Indian Creek will travel to Weir High Friday.
