WVNCC Enhances CDL Training with CDL Simulators

West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) has announced a significant enhancement to its Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program with the acquisition of two CDL simulators. These high-tech training tools are set to revolutionize the way students prepare for their CDL examinations and build the skills needed for a successful career in the trucking industry. The simulators were provided in part by the Office of Governor Jim Justice, Senator Joe Manchin and WV Community & Technical College System, and will be housed in new Simulation Labs on WVNCC’s Wheeling and Weirton campuses.
The simulators replicate realistic driving scenarios, road conditions and situations, providing students with a comprehensive training experience. Students can practice emergency maneuvers, adverse weather conditions, and other challenging scenarios in a controlled and safe environment. The simulators provide immediate feedback on students’ performance by helping them to identify areas for improvement and perfect their skills. In addition, the simulators significantly reduce the need for actual road training, contributing to a more eco-friendly approach to CDL instruction.
“The CDL simulators represent a major investment by the state in the future of its students and the trucking industry in the region and we are grateful to have two at WVNCC,” commented WVNCC President Dr. Daniel Mosser. “With an increasing demand for well-trained truck drivers, these simulators will enable WVNCC to offer cutting-edge training that meets the industry’s evolving needs.”
Anyone interested in enrolling in a CDL class or using the simulators, may visit the college’s website at www.wvncc.edu or call 304-214-8978. The next classes will start January 8 & 20 in Wheeling and February 19 in Weirton.
“We are committed to providing the best education possible to our students, and the addition of these CDL simulators is a testament to that commitment,” added WVNCC Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development Dr. Phil Klein. “We are confident that this technology will enhance our training and better prepare our students for successful careers in trucking.”
