BCPL Receives Summer Reading Funding from ELKS

You might be seeing something about Adventure Begins at Your Library at the Brooke Library locations this summer. What it is referring to is the theme for the Libraries biggest program for all ages of the year: Summer Reading. The 2024 Theme that they are a part of is from the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) and is: Adventure Begins at Your Library. Many of the storyhour reads, programs, and additional content will reflect the pathway for this theme which will be the brainchild of Kimberly Harless, the Director of Educational Programming.
As in the past, the local Wellsburg ELKS Chapter # 1553 has done its part in helping the community have access to a robust program filled with many programs for all ages and the further drive that lifelong reading and library participation is a way of life. Library Director Alexandra Schneider, notes that “their annual support for funding the Summer Reading Program as well as a Hotspot is always appreciated!”
The Libraries will continue to offer the online platform currently paid for by the West Virginia Library Commission. It will allow families and individuals alike, to record their reading logs, play online games, redeem points, and keep track of their progress to finishing the program all it is added, from the safety of home for those who are not venturing out as much. Info for the online platform can be found at: https://www.brookecountylibs.org/reading-programs. Currently, Read Through 52 Program is active and the libraries are looking forward in having their community join them this summer for their offerings.
