Country singer Matt VanFossen will entertain at the Brooke County Fair this year.
His performance is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
The fair will run from Friday-Sunday, Sept. 13-15, at Brooke Hills Park, Wellsburg.
Hours for the fairgrounds will be:
Friday, Sept, 13, 4-9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 15 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Making music that comes from the heart and touches the soul is what VanFossen does best.
He is not the average cookie-cutter country artist.
He is real, honest and true to the music he loves. Matt’s powerful and heartfelt vocal style coupled with his ability to interact with the audience leave listeners wanting more, long after the show is over.
Growing up in small-town Ohio, Matt was no stranger to tough times, but no matter what he was going through, good or bad, music was always there.
During the past 10 years, Matt has released several EP’s, performed for crowds of 80,000, and opened for legendary artists like Brooks and Dunn, Neal McCoy, Lorrie Morgan and more.
Through his music, he raised more than $30,000 for the National Stroke Association in memory of his mom, Dot Shepard.
Most recently, he worked with one of his musical idols, Jamie O’Neal, on a duet called “If This Were a Love Song.”
His first release of his new EP, “Get Me Now,” made it to $53 on the country charts and the music video was shown on Country Music Television.
His latest singe, “Where You Gonna Run to Now” was release to radio on Aug. 5, and the video has already been picked up by CMT and Great American Country.
In the fall, Matt will travel to California for an audition on “The Voice.”
Admission to the fair will be $5 on Friday and $10 on Saturday and Sunday.
Admission includes the carnival rides.
New events at the fair this year will include a 4-H Chili Cookoff, 4-H Pet Show, Gem Mining, farm Fun Area, West Virginia Soil Trailer, Agricultural Tent, Livestock show Ring, Kids Pedal Tractor Pull, Livestock Learn and Show Barnyard Bingo, Rooster Calling Contest and Ag Education – Ask the Farmer.
